Summary
The microscopical, histochemical and immunohistochemical structure of the ovary of the hermaphrodite goat is described. The stratum granulosum (SG) was formed by three to four layers of follicular cells. Processes of a part of the cell layer at the antrum folliculi did not protrude into the antrum. No endocrine secretory cells were observed in the theca folliculi interna (TFI). Ultrastructurally, signs of degenerative changes were observed in the cytoplasm of the granular layer cells. In addition, degenerative changes were confirmed by an increased activity of degrading enzymes (acid phosphatase, nonspecific esterase). Immunohistochemically, there were no deviations from the normally developing ovary of a goat in the occurrence of cytoskeletal proteins.
