Slovak Republic The Rector's Commitee of the University of Veterinary Medicine in Kosice has decided to award Medals of the UVM in the following three classes:

In accordance with the requirements laid down for the UVM Medal, it will be awarded to the folloving:

According to the requirements for the Medal, proposals for awarding the Medal of UVM may be given by the Rector's Commitee, Senior Members of the University Staff, the Board of The Academic Senate, the Works Council of The Trade Union, as well as individual employees of the UVM. The proposals are to be made to the Medal custodian, who is the Vice Rector responsible for the university development. The Medal is awarded by the Rector of the UVM.
The Medal was designed to symbolize the university and to characterize its mission.
On the obverse side of the Medal, there is the traditional symbol of the UVM - the letter "V" with the Aesculapian symbol in the centre, with three lime leaves on either side. The surrounding inscription has the university's name and city in Latin.
On the reverse side of the Medal, there is an open book representing education with a chalice in front from which a curved serpent arises, symbolizing medicine. The surrounding inscription similarly gives the university's name and city, but in Slovak.
The Medal has the classical circuit form with a diameter of 60 mm. The gold, silver, and bronze forms of the Medal were coined in the Kremnica State Mint.
