Summary

The aim of the work was to find out the effect of oil with higher content of n-3 PUFA on the growth intensity in piglets as well as conversion of energy, proteins and milk consumption per kg of gain in conventional and germ-free piglets. Within this aim, the observations of growth factor, metabolic parameters and eicosanoid level in the blood serum were carried out.
Oral administration of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) to piglets increases the growth intensity. Both the mean weight (P < 0.05) and conversion of energy and proteins indicate that fact. The level of growth factor, determined on the basis of somatomedin in the blood serum, was significantly higher in the experimental group of conventional piglets (P < 0.05).

Key words: polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA); supplementation; piglets; HPLC
