Summary

Effect of ethanol on two groups of proteolytic enzymes - the acid and neutral proteinases and aminopeptidases in the rat myocardium was investigated. The action of acid and neutral proteases on homogenates was assayed by haemoglobin as a substrate. Aminopeptidase action was determined by use of synthetic substrates L-Leu-p-nitroanilide and L-Arg-p-nitroanilide. The results show an increase in actions of both groups of enzymes under the influence of ethanol.

Key words: ethanol; myocardium; acid and neutral proteinases; aminopeptidases
