Summary
The surface of the ependymal lining of the infundibular recess of the third cerebral ventricle was studied under natural conditions (8) and after gonadectomy (6) in goats of both sexes using the scanning electron microscope. The differences between females and males were recorded, depending on the state of the ovarian cycle in females and on the season in males. Two months following ovariectomy and orchidectomy, a similar picture was found on the surface of the infundibular recess of the third cerebral ventricle in goats during anoestrus and in males in the "rest period". No differences were recorded between ovariectomized and orchidectomized goats.
Key words: central nervous system; ependyma; infundibular recess; ovariectomy; orchidectomy; goat
