This report focused on the observations of sarcoptic mange in wild red foxes (Vulpes vulpes) in the hunting areas of Eastern Slovakia made from years 1990 to 2000. The prevalence of this most common disease in red foxes, its clinical signs, diagnostic methods, and the morphology of Sarcoptes scabiei are described. Sarcoptic mange often causes the death of foxes and is considered to be a factor limiting the increase in its population.
