Summary

At the beginning of this article we deal with the relation of our education system, economics, services, and production to those of our West European and overseas partners in the past. Furthermore, we introduce in a brief form an analysis of the current practice of drug prescribing in our territory and the problems in practice connected with the introduction of new names for drugs. Parallel with this we also raise four proposals for the possible solution of these problems and we describe in greater detail one of the four possibilities.

Key words: prescription; European pharmacopoeia; Slovak pharmacopoeia; Slovak pharmaceutical codex; remedies; drugs
