Clinical case of feline chlamydiosis.
A case of feline chlamydial infection in a 5-month-old cat is described. Clinically, the patient showed 2-month lasting recurent conjunctivitis, rhinitis, dyspnoe, apatia, anorexia, bilateral chemosis, conjunctival congestion and purulent oculonasal discharge. Numerous elementary bodies of Chlamydia psittaci were revealed by a direct immunofluorescence test of the smears from the nasal cavity. In the therapy, the human medicine Sumamed sir. (PLIVA) on azithromycine basis was successfully used for the first time.

The problem of rabies is analyzed regarding veterinary profession as well as epizootological and epidemiological aspects.
Advances in immunoprophylaxis of rabies in both the animals and people have brought positive results. As recently, the fox population has become a reservoir, there is a need for further continuous oral antirabies vaccination of foxes, above all, in co-ordination with neighbouring countries.
The fact that the disease for this zoonosis in man has not been registered in Slovakia for more than 10 years documents good co-operation of veterinary and medical organizations. However, it emphasises the postulate of more active approach of hunting associations to the present problem of silvatic epizootological form of lyssa.
Regarding high numbers of people (especially children) who do not get rid of the contact with suspect animal, there is a need for public health education, above all, from the side of health-services.

The basic starting points for using acupuncture and acupuncture-familiar techniques at the therapy of supporting and locomotory apparatuses in dogs and cats are presented. The choice of combination of individual points after correctly performed diagnosis will be dependent on the type of disease and degree of impairment. Based upon our experiences and literary data, the inevitability of combination of local "triger" points with meridial points lying distally of the disease affected structures follows. At involving the patients into acupuncturic procedures it is necessary to take into consideration their general status, including age, nutritional status and their immunodefensive capability. Removal of a painful stimulus at the correct acupuncturic treatment is very prompt. Reparation of the individual tissue function requires repeated treatment and longer period, which varies from one to six-seven months.

On the basis of the milk flow profiles analysed at the quarter and udder level, the possible relationships between the duration of decline phase of milk flow and SCC (somatic cell count) were investigated. 39 Holstein cows, free of clinical mastitis and on their first to third lactation, were used. The quarter and udder milk flows were recorded during six consecutive days. At the last evening and morning milking of this period the milk samples from all quarters for SCC were collected. Due to higher SSC (> 500 000 in ml) in one of the quarters of 13 cows, these cows were called "experimental" cows. Another 26 cows were considered as control ones. At the udder level no effect of the duration of decline between experimental and control cows was found. At the quarter level there was a significant effect of the SCC on the duration of the decline phase among the quarters in the experimental group of cows. There was no correlation found between the duration of the blind phase of the quarter milk flow and SCC. In conclusion: the cows with higher SCC did not differ in the duration of the decline phase of total milk flow from those with lower SCC. However, the quarters with higher SCC significantly increased the duration of the decline phase than those with lower SCC. Whether longer duration of the decline phase from quarter is reason or consequence of higher SCC has to be investigated.

Nowadays, the methods used for detection of lipid oxidation level (peroxide and thiobarbituric acid value) are not correct. They cannot evaluate the real level of food spoilage. It is necessary to look for more correct and sensitive methods. High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) presents effective method for detection of lipid oxidation products. Primarily, malondialdehyde (MDA) HPLC detection, as a main product of lipid oxidation, is very sensitive, correct, simple and economical.
